I have over twenty years of working in Maine with homeowners and contractors to generate home designs that are environmentally sensitive, architecturally appropriate, efficient, comfortable and which respect the owner's budget. I have over two hundred houses and many renovations and additions from Maine to North Carolina.
By developing a team approach to the design the owner's lifestyle, architectural
taste and budget set the basis for Stone Boat Design and Daggett Builders to target.
Daggett Builders and I will start with an interview and begin a portfolio of notes, photographs and sketches. All work will be presented as preliminary sketches for review by the homeowner. Revisions will be made until an acceptable design is reached. After this stage we will develop the construction drawings, which will be used for estimating, permitting, engineering review and building. During this design process the contractor has input in order to have the structure incorporate their particular building style. This saves time and
money and reduces confusion. The homeowner remains a part of the design team
through out. This is the homeowner's house and needs to reflect their interests
completely.
Stone Boat Design takes pride in designing homes, which reflect the rich architectural heritage of New England. Our home designs are good neighbors in the coastal community.
We design in the traditional "On the Boards" hand drafting method as well as computer aided drafting where appropriate. By utilizing this hybrid approach the homeowner gets the best of both worlds and avoids the Cookie Cutter look that afflicts many new home designs.
Green building methods and materials are always recommended and we are familiar with their use.
